Emergency Logistics Planning
In emergency scenarios, logistics planning entails distributing goods (such as medical supplies and personnel, specialised rescue equipment and rescue teams, food, etc.) to distribution centres in impacted areas as quickly as feasible in order to speed up the relief efforts. This work develops a planning model that will be included in a decision support system for logistics related to natural disasters. The dynamic time-dependent transportation problem, which must be repeatedly handled at predetermined intervals throughout continuous aid delivery, is addressed by the model. The model generates updated plans that take into account any new requests for supplies, equipment, or transportation that are made throughout the current planning time horizon. The plan also includes the ideal mixed pick-up and delivery times for vehicles within the taken into account planning timeframe.
